Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0858149A1] The machine has a number of soft iron stator elements (10a) with uniform distribution in an outer stator (13a) and a number of soft iron elements in an inner stator (13b) contg. at least one armature winding. A rotor consists of alternating magnets and soft iron elements. The outer stator has no armature windings. The outer stator soft iron elements are arranged so that at least one region (20) with a larger gap than the normal division gap is formed between two adjacent elements. This region is associated with a magnetic end effect compensation arrangement and can be used for other components.
