[origin: EP0858767A1] A device for hinging to a fixed structure (2) a door (3) of an appliance, in particular a dishwasher, in which the door (3) is mounted so it can swivel around a fixed horizontal axis (5), and is subjected to the action of an elastic element (6) returning the door (3) to the closed position, comprising: a leverage (7) operating between the door (3) and the elastic element (6), and provided with a kinematic chain (7a) having rods (10, 9, 8) reciprocally articulated and arranged in succession; the first (10) and the last rod (8) of the kinematic chain (7a) being connected respectively to the door (3) and to the elastic element (6) and being able to rotate around fixed axes (5, 11) of the structure (2); the first rod (10) of the kinematic chain (7a) being provided with articulated joints (10a, 10b) placed at a reciprocal distance smaller than the distance between corresponding joints (8a, 8b) at the end of the last rod (8); said last rod (8) hinging with the elastic element (6) on a pivot (13a) located at a distance from the main axis (11) of the last rod (8) not exceeding the distance between the joints (10a, 10b) of the first rod (10). <IMAGE>
