Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0858932A2] An externally mounted rear-view mirror for a car has a housing in which is an adjustable glass carrier plate and with a light source having a light opening in the housing wall. The opening is at least partly filled by an optical fibre cable (6) joined to the light source inside the housing. The light source is an LED. The cable lies with its surface at least partly within the outer contour of the housing and also on the inner side of the housing, the latter using a support piece which runs round at least some of the cable periphery. The cable can be detached from the housing and is secured with a retaining piece (10).
