Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9716993A1] A modular jewellery item, particularly a ring, earring, pendant or timepiece such as a watch, having a conventional outward appearance while enabling access to various functions in addition to the original function. Said modular jewellery item comprises a central portion and a reversible interchangeable hollow portion releasably mounted on the central portion. When said jewellery item is a wristwatch (10), the central portion consists of the casing (11) containing the movement driving the watch hands (12) and the hollow portion surrounds the casing. Said reversible hollow portion (13) has a decorative surface (19) and a functional surface (20) for accessing various watch functions. The hollow portion may be arranged around the casing in a first so-called decorative position in which the decorative surface (19) is visible and in a so-called functional position in which the functional surface (20) is visible. When the hollow portion is in the decorative position, the watch has a conventional outward appearance. When the hollow portion is in the functional position, the wearer of the watch is able to access the additional functions provided in the hollow portion.
