[origin: WO9717543A1] The aim is to improve a compressor comprising the following elements: a helical compressor with a first compressor element and a second compressor element whose helical ribs in the form of circle involutes engage with one another and can move relative to one another in an orbital movement about an axis, a medium to be compressed being taken in on the inlet side, successively compressed in chambers formed between the compressor elements and discharged on the outlet side; a drive motor; and a cam driven by the drive motor for producing the orbital motion of one of the compressor elements. The improvement is such as to maximise the isentropic total efficiency. To achieve this, it is proposed that one of the compressor elements should have a helical rib with an outlet channel in the vicinity of one inner end, into which outlet channel an outlet aperture in one wall of that end discharges.
