[origin: EP0860360A1] The machine has a cross strapping frame (22), a feed transporter (14) with baskets (26) for stacked goods (28), and a removal transporter (16). Each basket is open at the back (34) in direction of transportation. The strapping station (12) has a stop unit (36), which projects into the basket to move the goods stack into a position suitable for the cross strapping frame. A basket advance device (40) moves the basket forward out of the plane of the cross strapping frame only by such a distance, that the side walls (42) of the basket continue to hold the stack to be strapped in position.
