Abstract (en)
A diamond-containing body is provided which is useful particularly as a tool insert. The body comprises a layer (20) of CVD diamond presenting a working surface (24) defining a cutting edge (26). The layer (20) of CVD diamond is bonded to a substrate (22) along an interface (28). A pattern of spaced, curved grooves (30) extends from the interface (28) into the substrate (22) up to a depth of 200 microns and extends across substantially the whole of the interface (28). <IMAGE>
