Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0860602A1] The hood part is of plastic and is connected to the seal by means of a corona treatment of the surface (5) of the seal opposite to the hood part and adhesion by using an adhesive (7) to form a prefabricated unit. The reinforcement (8) is formed by a closed frame vulcanised into the elastomer of the seal, on which fixture screws (22) directly engage for releasable connection of the cylinder head hood with the cylinder head (1). The frame has a C-shaped cross-section. The seal on the side facing the cylinder head (1) has at least one rib-shaped projection, which in the assembled state of the cylinder head hood is pressed flatly on the cylinder head surface (12). The preferred materials for the hood part are polyamid or polyphenylene with fibreglass reinforcement and for the seal acrylate rubber, ethylene acrylate rubber or fluorine rubber. The frame is preferably of steel plate or aluminium alloy.
