Abstract (en)
The system for illuminating the dial (4) of a watch fits within the casing (1) which includes a cover glass (8) lying over the dial and held in place by a cover ring (9). At least one light source (13) is mounted at the periphery of the dial with a light guide (20) extending around the circumference of the dial. The light guide has an internal surface which is polished, and an external surface held within the space defined by the dial (4), the cover glass (8) and the internal wall of the cover ring (9). The outside surface of the light guide has a progressively increasing degree of surface roughness, causing an increasing degree of scattering as the distance from the light source(s) increases.

Dispositif d'illumination du cadran (4) d'un appareil d'affichage formé par un boîtier (1) obturé par une glace (8) disposée au-dessus du cadran (4) et maintenue par un cercle d'encageage (9), ledit dispositif comprenant au moins une source lumineuse (13, 33, 35, 43, 53) disposée dans au moins un logement aménagé dans un guide lumineux (20, 30, 40, 50) positionné à la périphérie du cadran (4), ledit guide ayant une surface interne (21) polie orientée vers le cadran (4) et une surface externe (22) maintenue dans un espace délimité par le cadran (4), la glace (8) et la paroi interne (10) du cercle d'encageage (9), caractérisé en ce que tout ou partie de ladite surface externe (22) du guide est agencée pour permettre une augmentation progressive le long du guide (20, 30, 40, 50) de la quantité de lumière diffusée par ladite paroi externe au fur et à mesure qu'on s'éloigne de l'une des sources lumineuses (13, 33, 35, 43, 53). <IMAGE>
