[origin: EP0861608A1] The helmet has a length-adjustable, automatically positioned chin strap, which is part of the chin guard. This hinges upwards and moves on a concentric orbit about the guard pivot point. When the guard is closed, it engages tightly and securely on the neck of the wearer. The helmet also has a multi-sectional, external chin strap, which may be fitted in addition to the first one. This secures safe wearing of the helmet when the chin guard is pivoted upwards or has been removed.
