[origin: EP0861689A2] In the laboratory centrifuge appts., a stop system gives a shape fit locking grip to the rotor (3), connected to the control. The control operates the stop system to brake and stop the rotor (3) at a defined angular position according to the rotary speed of the drive motor (1), and monitor signals which indicate the angular position of the rotating rotor. Also claimed is a rotor braking operation where, according to the rotor (3) speed and the angular position monitoring signals, the rotor speed is reduced to a slower rate. On reaching the slower speed level, the locking bolt (11) is moved into a setting towards its locking position to engage a drilling (10). The locking position of the bolt (11) is checked by an attempt to drive the motor (1) by the control.
