[origin: WO9807891A1] A method of manufacturing sintered ore by charging a blended raw material, which contains a raw powder ore, solvent and fuel, onto a pallet of a sintering machine to form a raw material packed bed and then igniting a surface of the raw material packed bed to effect sintering reaction downward from above. In the method of manufacturing sintered ore and the sintering machine, when an upper layer of the raw material packed bed is adequately fired, a mass flow rate of oxygen containing gas supplied to the raw material packed bed is changed to be 1.01 to 2.6 times the mass flow rate of oxygen containing gas supplied in the range, in which the upper layer of the raw material packed bed is fired, to effect sintering, thereby obtaining a high yield and a product having an excellent quality. More preferably, when a tip end of a region, in which a combustion fusing band is formed, reaches a position below 20 % of a height of the raw material packed bed from the upper layer of the raw material packed bed, a mass flow rate of oxygen containing gas supplied to the raw material packed bed is changed in the above manner to effect sintering.
