Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2341653A] A downhole swivel joint 300, for use in a wellbore, comprising first 302 and second 304 elongate connector portions, rotatably secured to each other, with each connector portion having a longitudinally extending bore 306 and 308, for providing fluid communication between the two connector portions. The first and second connector portions are each provided with means 310 and 312, for attaching additional equipment. The second connector portion may be provided with a shoulder 316, to engage a surface within the wellbore, to prevent further downward movement of the swivel joint. The connector portions may be secured together by a bearing arrangement 314, in the form of a set of axial thrust discs, immersed in a sealed oil bath.
