[origin: DE19635164A1] The invention relates to a reciprocating pump, particularly a high pressure pump for a fuel injecting device in an internal combustion engine, comprising at least one piston (35) mounted slidingly inside a piston guide (42) in a housing (10) containing the motor shaft (14) provided with a crank element (27), as well as a reciprocating piston ring (28) mounted rotatably thereon, on which crank element the piston (35) related to the motor shaft can take its bearing. In order to prevent the piston from being submitted to significant transverse forces, said piston rests on the non rotating piston ring (28) through the sliding surface (40) allocated to the piston on the sliding bearing surface (34), which is provided, in a transverse axis with respect to the relative motion, with lubricating grooves (41) between the piston (35) and the piston ring (28).
