[origin: EP0863277A1] A strand of wire (3) is claimed for construction works comprising several stranded solid wires (6, 7) between which it incorporates some internal interstices (I), certain at least of these wires (7) having a portion of their surface exposed to the environment around the strand. A filling material preventing the penetration of liquid from the environment around the strand is present in the internal interstices. A method for the fabrication of such a strand is also claimed and consists of the following steps:- a) stranding the peripheral wires (7) around the central wire (6) to form the strand (3); b) slackening the strand (3); c) arranging the filling material (9) on the central wire (6) of the slackened strand (3), between the peripheral wires (7); and d) retightening the strand in a manner such that the filling material fills the interstices (I) in the shape of a curvilinear triangle presented between the central wire (6) and the peripheral wires (7). A method of construction using this strand is also claimed.
