Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0863285A2] The hinge pin (2) of a hinge for motor vehicle doors fits into the gudgeon of a hinge half on which a door is hung. The two parts have complementary alignment surfaces (13) which slope with respect to the hinge axis. The conical surface of the pin consists of a material that is harder than that of the hinge gudgeon and has at least one cam extending over part of the conical surface. Preferably the cam has a cross sectional shape which is at least approximately part of a circle and may taper towards the notional tip of the truncated cone forming the alignment surface.
