[origin: EP0863293A2] Feed rate produced by feed drive when drilling in the ground is controlled by a hydraulic circuit (10-86) as a function of the torque occurring at the drilling tool. Preferably the feed rate is controlled on the basis of the difference between the actual torque and a set-point torque, so that the feed rate is less than a predetermined value. The feed rate may additionally be controlled as a function of the feed force, for which a limiting value is defined. A control system is used for carrying out the method. It involves a pressure medium flowing to the hydraulic rotary drive can be regulated by a control valve.
