Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0864745A1] The starter contactor has power contacts (1a) connecting current to the starter motor and a winding (2,3) which controls displacement of the power contact. One of these windings is connected between the supply terminal of the battery and the electric motor (M). The control is provided by microprocessor (5) driving a power MOSFET (4) which controls current in one of the windings (2,3). The microprocessor receives a measure of voltage at a point between the motor and the windings, and blocks the transistor, releasing the power contacts, if within a set time after operation of the starter switch the volt the voltage at a point between the winding and the motor is not above a set level.
