[origin: EP0864836A2] The heater system has heat take-off units (10) as rod-shaped bodies passing through the walls (6) defining the combustion chamber (K), distributed to extend into the whole hot gas flow zone. The units are in a sealed mounting at the chamber walls, but allow heat to be carried by them through the walls. The distribution of the heat take-off units in the combustion chamber is determined by the product of the dia. and interval of the units ≤ 10 mm<2>, and the dia;height ratio is ≤ 0.5. The walls are ceramic, and the take-off rods are of metal or ceramics. The rods have a catalyst cladding. Photo cells in the walls can give the heater a current generating facility.
