[origin: EP0866116A2] Use of bisacylacetal compounds of formula (I) as activators in oxidising, washing, cleaning and disinfecting solutions is new. R1-CO-O-C(A)(B)-O-CO-R2 (I). R1, R2 = H, aryl, alkyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl (all with 1-17 C); A, B = H, alkyl, aryl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl (all with 1-17 C), provided that at least one of A and B is substituted with at least one hydrophilic group selected from -SO3H, -OSO3H, -PO(OH)2, -OPO(OH)2, -CO2H and their anions or -N<+)<R3)(R4)(R5) Y<->; R3-R5 = H, aryl, alkyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl (all with 1-17 C); and Y<-> = charge-balancing anion.
