[origin: EP0866167A1] The calender assembly, with rollers in a vertical stack to process paper and similar webs, has tie rods (15) along the roller stack (3) at both ends of the rollers. The clamped ends (16,18) are secured to the bearing pedestal (7) for the upper roller (4) and its pressure loading system if fitted, and the lower end is fixed to the bearing pedestal (9) of the bottom roller (5) and its pressure loading unit (13), if fitted.
