[origin: EP0866481A2] The vacuum chamber has a cylindrical body (11) which at least partially consists of an insulating ceramic material, preferably AlO, glass or a similar material. It also has fixed contacts on a fixed contact rod (17) and a movable contact attached to a movable contact rod (22). The movable contacts are located in a vacuum inside the body (11) which is cast into an insulating material (30,31), in particular, a casting resin. The vacuum chamber is characterised by the fact that an elastic padding (34) is placed between the body (11) and the insulating material (30,31) to compensate relative displacements - which are brought about by temperature effects - of the body (11) and the insulating material.
