[origin: DE19702154A1] A thumb protector for e.g. skiers or snow boarders and incorporates a traction means (2) which is fastened on a person's thumb (8) and is at a distance from the thumb joint (9). The means (2) is fastened at least indirectly on the hand and defines a preset angle of spread between the thumb (8) and the hand (6). It features at least one sling (3) which surrounds the thumb (8) at a distance from the thumb tip (10).
