[origin: EP0867369A1] The strap used to secure containers, packages etc., for transport and is held in place by a self-locking tightener with a tensioning tool (21) consisting of a tensioner (22) and a lock (31) with C-frame having upper (36) and lower (37) arms. A section of belt (65) between the tensioner and the other end of the belt is passed through the space between the arms (38) into the interior (39) of the frame, in which several pins (41) can move longitudinally and pass through the belt section in the locked position. They are withdrawn when the belt is released. Preferably pin guides (44) are positioned on either side of the C-space and enter the lower arm of the frame in the operative position.
