Mechanism (6) of a combination lock for a container is adjustable by means of a number of number wheels (14) which are arranged in a row orthogonal to the container division (15) on the container. Preferably the axes of rotation of the combination lock mechanism are positioned perpendicular to a wall section including the locking device. Each number wheel may project from a housing (7) of the locking mechanism at at least two positions, located diametrically opposite.

Eine Schließeinrichtung für ein Behältnis hat einen Zahlenschloßmechanismus (6) mit mehreren Zahlenrädern (14), mittels denen ein Schlüsselgeheimnis des Zahlenschloßmechanismus (6) einstellbar ist, so daß die am Behältnis angebrachte Schließeinrichtung aus ihrer das Behältnis abschließenden Schließstellung in ihre Zugang zum Innenraum des Behältnisses bietende Freigabestellung verstellbar ist. Zur Erleichterung der Betätigung des Zahlenschloßmechanismus wird vorgeschlagen, daß die Zahlenräder (14) des Zahlenschloßmechanismus (6) der Schließeinrichtung (1) in einer zur Behältnistrennung (15) orthogonalen Reihe angeordnet sind. <IMAGE>
