[origin: WO9721536A1] Sheet material is formed by mixing polymer and particulate together in an extruder (2) and passing the mixture through a slot die (1); an electrode assembly (8) applies an electrostatic charge to the extruded sheet from the die (1) so that, after the sheet is passed around a casting roller (6), the polymer (which is still soft) will be attracted towards the surface of the roller, and the surface of the sheet nearest to the roller thus becomes smoother than the other surface, from which the particulate continues to project.
