[origin: EP0869067A1] A plastic bottle made of polyethylene tetraphthalate (PET), PEN, or similar, has an annular support collar on its neck below the closure thread, the collar (1) having peripheral flats (2) and/or top surface facets (3). Preferably, the collar periphery is polygonal, especially with twelve or twenty-four corners, and each peripheral flat (2) adjoins a top surface facet (3).
