[origin: EP0869170A2] A laundry detergent formulation comprises at least one surfactant, a clay having fabric softening properties, and an activated bleaching system which includes at least one bleach activator which is an ester of a polyhydric alcohol having at least 5 carbon atoms and at least 3 hydroxyl groups esterified with C2-5 acyl groups. The polyhydric alcohol residue of the activator not having any substituents with six or more carbon atoms.
