[origin: EP0869237A2] The cable lock has a cable element (26) which is fixed onto the object to be secured. The cable element forms part of a closed securing loop. A signal line (84) runs between a first end region (28) and a second end region (30) of the cable element to transmit electrical signals between these end regions (28,30). An interrogation unit (44) is fixed to the movable object. This generates an interrogation signal which is coupled into the signal line via a coupling section (48) near the first end region (28). A response unit (118) is provided on the cable element (84) in the region of the second end region (30) and is connected to the signal line. The response unit receives the interrogation signal via the signal line (84) and transmits a response signal via the signal line and the coupling section to the interrogation unit (44) in response to reception of the interrogation signal.
