Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0869255A1] The automatic locking mechanism for a roller shutter (3) comprises of two links (11,12) connected by an articulated joint (13). One link is pivoted to the shaft (2) on which the shutter is rolled and the other is connected to the edge of the shutter's first slat (4). The joint connecting the two links is designed to lock automatically when the shutter is fully deployed, e.g. by means of engaging toothed lugs. These would prevent the shutter from being raised by exerting a force against its lower edge, e.g. by a person attempting a break-in. When the shaft is rotated to raise the shutter the joint unlocks automatically.
