[origin: EP0870581A2] The belt knife (2) splitting machine (1) used esp. to split esp. animal hides has a knife feed unit which has a feed gap (6) on one side limited by a powered feed roller (7). The feed gap (6) is preceded by a powered transport roller (10) and transport gap (9). The width of both the transport (9) and feed (6) gaps is adjustable. The transport roller 10) diameter (>50 mm) is larger than that of the feeder roller (7), and the two work at different boundary speeds.
