[origin: EP0870726A1] A tower crane designed to be transported by a vehicle and automatically assembled has a folding jib (6) in three or more folding sections (7,8) and an intermediate element (10) connecting the first and second sections. The intermediate element has a pyramid-shaped rear end (15) with a rectangular base, articulated to the foot of the jib (7), and connected by its tip to the upper member (25) of the jib foot by a power cylinder (24). It also has a pyramid-shaped forward end (16), articulated to the second section (8) of the jib, and connected to the upper member by a second power cylinder, and a hinge between the two ends of the intermediate element.
