[origin: WO9724556A1] The invention concerns a combustion furnace (1), in particular an under-burning boiler, designed to burn solid fuels such as waste wood, the furnance having a feed shaft (2) with, located behind it, a secondary combustion chamber (3) which has secondary-air inlets (4) at the smoke inlet located at the bottom, on the feed-shaft side. In front of the secondary-air inlets (4) is a grate (5) with suspended air-supply fittings (8). Behind the secondary-air inlets (4), in the secondary combustion chamber (3) are tertiary inlets (13). The secondary combustion chamber (3) is designed so that the combustion gases circulate round it. It has blocks (15, 16), fitted to the walls at the top, which cause turbulent flow and it also has at least one preliminary-heating or after-heating head (25 or 26, respectively), in particular at the outlet end. This design ensures strong combustion-gas turbulence and optimum secondary combustion with little pollution during operation.
