[origin: WO9627787A1] An apparatus for loading sample onto an electrophoretic gel comprising a membrane which releasably retains samples such that the samples are actively released when the membrane is placed in contact with the gel. In one embodiment the sample loader (308) comprises a substrate (320) which has a plurality of sample loading fingers (310) which extend downwardly away from the top edge (319). The sample loading fingers (310) preferably include loading areas (312). Each loading area (312) has an affixed membrane (306).
