[origin: WO9711500A1] In a closed, cylindrical, rechargeable battery cell, preferably a nickel/metal hydride battery, the electrode complex (8-12) and electrolyte of the cell are arranged directly in a cylindrical tube (15) of a thermoplastic material. This tube is provided with two end-closing, circular disks (16, 17) of an electrically conductive plate material. The disks are so melted into or pressed into the tube that a pressure-tight sealing is obtained.
