[origin: EP0872295A1] A mould for production of hollow metal castings is provided with an inlet (4) for introduction of a casting material (6) into a cavity (5) bounded by forming surfaces (7, 8, 9). The mould (1) comprises a steel mould (3) and a sand mould (2), with the steel mould providing the forming surface (9) and the sand mould providing the rest (7, 8) of the forming surfaces. Also claimed is a hollow casting with two zones with different wall thicknesses.
