Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19632964C1] The invention concerns a filter press for the pressurized dewatering of sludges which are difficult to dewater. The filter press comprises: a plurality of pressure bodies which are disposed aligned in a row, take the form of hollow cylinders and comprise a spacing cylinder and two pressure plates disposed at both ends of the latter; a pressure chamber (16, 38) between each two adjacent pressure bodies; a cylindrical slide ring (30) per pressure chamber (12, 38), the slide rings being used to open and close the pressure chamber and each having an annular seal at both ends of the pressure body; and devices for driving the pressure bodies hydraulically in the direction of their successive arrangement. The filter press is designed such that: a frame structure with two end plates (1, 2) and tension rods (3, 4) between the latter is provided; a common hydraulic drive is provided for all the pressure bodies; each slide ring (39) is selectively provided with a separate or a common hydraulic drive for closing the associated pressure chamber, maintaining the closed position and opening the pressure chamber (16, 38); and such that each slide ring (39) comprises at least one filling opening and is axially movable such that the chamber volume can be varied.
