Abstract (en)
A thermal ink-jet printhead includes ejectors which define channels for the passage of liquid ink therethrough. A heating element (60) for nucleating liquid ink is disposed in a heating portion (20) of each channel. A nozzle portion (22) of the channel is smaller in cross-sectional area than the heating portion (20), and a manifold portion (24), through which new liquid ink enters the heating portion (20), is larger in cross-sectional area than the heating portion (20). The design is advantageous for ejecting inks of viscosity greater than 2 centipoise. <IMAGE> <IMAGE>
