Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0874107A1] The terracotta flue tile forms part of a smoke flue in the chimney of a house. It has its inner surface (4) coated with an impermeable material such as a polyurethane-based resin stable up to 400 degrees C. It has male and female ends (7-12) which are designed to interlock with adjoining tiles above and below. The inner sections of the interlocking ends have seals (14) which are impermeable and resistant to heat and corrosion, e.g. a silicone mastic. The joints (15) between the outer sections of the tile ends are filled with mortar.
