[origin: EP0874120A2] The hinge (1) has a thin-walled extruded hollow section which comprises five chambers, of which the two outer chambers (2, 3) have a mainly quadratic cross section and the inner chambers (4, 5, 6) have a rectangular cross section. Hinge eyes (7) for hinging the hinge on one hand onto a pair of hinge halves on the door column and on the other hand onto a pair of hinge halves on the door are made from formed parts, and are connected by welding to both ends of the two outer chambers. The extruded hollow section is cut away by differing extents along the height of the hinge on both sides and symmetrically relative to the hinge centre.
