[origin: EP0874347A1] The identification disc (1), especially for a timber post supporting telephone lines or power cables, is made preferably from plastic and is held in place by a nail (2) through a central hole in the disc. The disc is made in different colours to indicate the condition of the timber and the time interval before it next requires inspection, while the nail head (5) is marked to indicate the year of the last inspection. The disc can be made, for example, in two different colours of green to indicate that the post should be inspected again in 8 or 5 years, orange to indicate that the next inspection is needed in 3 years, while red indicates that the post should be replaced straight away.
