[origin: DE19646282A1] The inventive device comprises a drive motor (30), which drives through a transmission a cog wheel (33) connected to a sleeve with an adjusting pin (44) installed therein. The adjusting peg can be coupled, in a direction of rotation around its longitudinal axis, with the sleeve (40) through gear teeth (43, 48), while the adjusting pin (44) is coupled with a spring (57) in gear therewith and prestressed in the axial direction. One connecting element leaning against the headlamp portion to be adjusted is coupled in the direction of rotation with the adjusting pin (44) so as to move against the pretensioned spring (57) in the direction of the longitudinal axis (17) up to a point where it disconnects from the sleeve (40) and, under the effect of a control unit (58), rotates relative to the sleeve (40). The rotation by the adjusting pin (44) causes the link unit (16) to rotate also and enables a basic adjustment of the headlamp range, independently of the drive motor.
