Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0875160A1] The cigarette filter (12) is ventilated by openings (15) and has a coaxial filter element possessing a core (14) with core-wrapping, a casing (13) and a wrapping for it. The tube of tobacco (11) and the filter enable the smoke to flow through the filter core when the ventilation zone is open, and to flow through the casing when the ventilation openings are closed. The filter-core wrapping is air-tight and is preferably made of paper or cellulose acetate. The ratio of the cross-sectional surface of the core to the cross-sectional surface of the casing is less than one.
