[origin: EP0875458A1] The sack (9) open on one side is removed from a stack inside a magazine (2) by the uppermost sack being picked up by a lifting and lowering suction appliance (1) through the gaps in the chain conveyor (3). The bar arrangement (7) of the chain conveyor has at least two gaps through which the sack is conveyed to the filler unit (5). All the deflector rollers (8) of the chain conveyor are positioned above the magazine. A conveyor belt (4) is placed under the deflector rollers.
