[origin: WO9727008A1] Generally prism-shaped compacted bales (4) are formed out of pre-sorted and ground refuse which is essentially free from kitchen and food waste as well as from glass and metal. A baling compactor (3) forces the bales through an immersion bath (7) which contains a sealing agent which is liquefied through either heat or a solvent and which is combustible without leaving residue or harmful products of combustion. The compacted bales (4) can also be enclosed within an elastic shrink-wrap tubular film. The compacted bales produced are ruggedly sealed on all sides against damage and can be transported over long distances and stored for long periods of time; they can fuel heating power stations.
