[origin: WO9727517A1] A release agent (L) is taken by an applicator (V) to the surface of a fixing roller (F). The release agent is fed to the applicator (V) through contact with a wick (D). The wick (D) dips into a groove (UBR) in which release agent (L) is uniformly distributed over the entire width of the fixing roller (F). A release agent metering pipe (R) having apertures (O) over its length conveys the release agent (L) to the wick (D) and the groove (UBR). Release agent is always supplied over the entire effective width of the fixing roller (F) regardless of the width of the substrate currently being treated.
