[origin: EP0876789A1] A washing machine is described, comprising a liquid metering device (3), having a first opening (FS) communicating with the inside of the washing tub (1) of the machine and a second opening (AS) in communication with the environment outside of said tub (1). According to the invention, during a substantial part of a washing, a fluid level (L1) is maintained in said device (3), which is apt to interrupt the communication between said first opening (FS) and said second opening (AS), in order to reduce noise, heat and vapor transmission from inside said tub (1) to the external environment. <IMAGE>
