[origin: EP0878399A1] The grab system is used on equipment which fills a transportation package (13) with flat or overlapping goods, or which does the reverse process. It takes the goods from a conveyor in a packed row along the y=direction, and places them in the package, or performs the reverse process. The system is part of an automatic manipulating system, which is controlled electronically, and which has a positioning system (41). It has a basic unit with mechanical, energy, and, if necessary, sensory links to the positioning system. It also has driving and guiding elements for a supporting device, which can exert a definite force on the row of goods in the y-direction, and in at least one direction which is normal to the latter.
