Abstract (en)
The engine has a cylinder with a combustion chamber (1) which has a central ignition plug (17) and an offset fuel injector (16). The top of the combustion chamber is formed by a section of the cylinder head (4) with a surface which slopes down in two directions from a centre line (12) which separates its inlet (7,8) and outlet (9,10) ports. The injector (16) enters the combustion chamber on the centre line (12), and the reciprocating piston (3) has an off-centre cavity (15), e.g. hemispherical in shape, in its upper face, situated beneath the injector and ignition plug. A variant of the design has two cavities, lenticular in shape, for the ignition plug and injector.

La chambre de combustion pour moteur à injection directe d'essence, à bougie centrée et injecteur excentré, est délimitée par un élément de culasse (4) en forme de toit (11) dont l'arête (12) s'étend entre les orifices d'admission (7, 8) et les orifices d'échappement (9,10) avec l'injecteur excentré (16) débouchant dans la chambre (1) au niveau de l'arête. Le moteur comprend également un piston coulissant (3) dont la face supérieure comporte au moins une cavité excentrée (15) située sous l'injecteur (16) et la bougie (17). <IMAGE>
