[origin: EP0878751A1] The wristwatch (42) has hands and dial (12) for displaying the time and is in addition equipped with an electronic compass which in conjunction with an electronic unit furnishes signals which relate the longitudinal axis of the watch to the North. The signals are modified by settings to the electronic unit made manually using a crown (20) such that lights (54,55,56) give visual indication when the longitudinal axis is at a desired bearing to. North. The watch is equipped with two sighting marks (15,16) along the longitudinal axis and the hour hand (50) may be used to indicate. North or another preset direction.
